Day 3 "Paleo My Way"

Day 3

The following is  a collection of blogs & articles from other affiliates.  Most of what you will read may not be news to you, but it may help you clear some destructive myths regarding diet & exercise.
After reading them you will notice several common themes:
1) Sugar is sugar.
2) Lift heavy things if you want to look better.
3) Terms like Paleo, Paleo friendly, Paleoish, etc, mean absolutely nothing.

Enjoy.

  5. Ran this morning instead of doing Angie. Figured that I would look at everyone else's comments before deciding if I want to do it later on in the week :-) Ate fine. Tried parsnips tonight - not bad at all! Good articles - alas, so true about the sugar. Here's something that I thought was interesting that I came across recently about Americans' sugar consumption over the years: In 1700 the average person consumed about 4 pounds of sugar per year, in 1800 - 18 pounds, in 1900 - 90 pounds, and in 2009 - more than 50% of Americans consume 180 pounds of sugar per year!

And on that note, here's a really good unsweetened snack recipe for caramelized coconut chips from the Well Fed cookbook:
    1. Mix 1/4 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. cinnamon with a fork in a small bowl/ramekin. 2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium high heat for about 2 minutes. 3. Add 1 cup of coconut flakes/chips (you can find these at Wegmans or the Harvest Market; this is NOT shredded coconut - flakes are bigger) and distribute evenly so that they form a single layer. 4. Stir for about 3 minutes, until they start to turn brown. 5. Remove the pan from the heat and sprinkle with salt/cinnamon. Tranfer to a plate and allow them to cool. You can use these to sprinkle on stuff, but I usually just eat them as is.

  6. All though I am feeling very sore and tired from the workout's and diet change's , It has been a good day, very productive, half the battle is being prepared for paleo, checked out some website's for paleo recipe's, (thank you Tiffany and Sheena) I will let you all know how the krabby pattie's turn out, and of course we all know Tiffany's truffle's are delicious!!! Can't wait to make them.

  7. Day 3 almost complete. Thank goodness for red wine and almond butter. Literally the highlights of my day. Need to drink more water but so far have actually been taking my fish oil which i am convinced is helping my soreness.

    Live paleo and prosper,

  8. Today was good, however I am finding myself crabbier than usual. Must be the sugar withdrawal. I actually haven't even eaten my sanity Hershey kiss since Sunday! Might not seem like a lot but it definitely is for me normally taking in a lot of candy per day (damn you office candy jar). Wod was painful but good today. I also have more energy than usual and am not as sluggish. Let's see if that lasts! Overall was a good day 3 :)

  9. Day 3 and I can really see the sugar withdrawal playing with people on both an emotional and physical level. Gotta make sure you keep your mind engaged and stay strong folks. The energy will come back and then some here in the next week or so (I know...a week is a long time). Remember, if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. I promise you that the end results will be worth the initial suck fest. STAY STRONG AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!!!

  10. Today was good. Diet is still on track. However I did find myself reaching for more fruit today. Definitely my bodies way of asking for its sugar back! haha. Warning: Cuties are dangerous. They are so small and I ate 3 of them before I even knew what happened. My office ordered Pizza for everyone today. I was stuck back there training ALL DAY with the smell of pizza and cheese sticks filling the air. I was so proud of myself for not giving in. Todays WOD was about as bad as I had expected. Angie is not friendly to your hands.

Also I would just like to add what an awesome job Coach J.Eck did tonight with his FULL 5:30 class! BOOOM!

  11. Long day but I've felt good for the most part. There has been a marked increase on energy and sleep quality.
For the first time in a few years I've gone a whole day while consuming only one cup of coffee.
I have eaten and obscene amount of beef, chicken, eggs & bacon in the last 24 hrs. I've complied with my vegetable requirements but I can't say I enjoy them. Lunch was mostly half bottle of hot sauce covering my spinach.
Compared to my prior experience it seems that being gluten free has made the cravings more manageable.
Going to be now. Hoping for a quiet night.

  17. Angie was fun. Diet was good today. I've even been alcohol free for a little over a week. Miss Guinness terribly. It's been too long and gluten free beer tastes like feet. Good job so far everyone. Please remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You will feel much better after this detox. For gods sake, stay away from gluten and sugar as much as you can... Especially the gluten. Don't impede your progress. Stay strong.

  18. Managed to stay Paleo at my son's hockey banquet tonight with limited options....yay! Only had cream in my coffee....otherwise clean all day. Ran 3 miles, which did NOT feel good after the suicide lunges. WOD tomorrow....I hope it's kind.

  19. No WOD for me today, extra long shift at work. I ate well today even though I had to suffer through watching my coworkers devour delicious baked goods, I consider that a victory since I'm usually the first to dive in. Donna

  21. Hey guys! It's Dan Morgan here. Yesterday Amanda and I did the WOD and followed Paleo all day. Everything was going GREAT until last night when we fell asleep and woke up this morning. WHY DOES ANGIE DO THIS?!? My arms are barely able to move now, i'm walking around looking like C3-P0 (Human cyborg relations) and Amanda is feeling sore as well and barely able to bend over to pick up her shoes.

  22. Posting late. Missed WOD yesterday but stayed on track with the food. I don't crave sugars but I want something salty and crunchy that isn't made from a vegetable pretending to be something more delicious than it really is!!!!!!! I need to drink more water so I'm working on that. I need to eat more veggies so I'm working on that. Keep it up guys!
