Holidays Can Be Healthy

Easter is right around the corner; along with this glorious holiday comes baskets full of empty calories and sugar laden temptation that can send your healthy lifestyle into a tailspin. I can understand with children it may seem easy to just give in and stuff their baskets with Cadbury Eggs and Chocolate Bunnies; however, you have to ask yourself what kind of example you are setting for the kiddos. There are tons of resources online with tips and tricks on how to stay on track during holidays. Like this one from Robb Wolf or this one from The Paleo Mom .

With a little planning and thinking outside the box, you and the fam can still be festive and enjoy a calorie friendly celebration.

  3. Went to a family cookout...opted for no bun and skipped the pasta salad. Had some red wine vs the beer. Had a fun baseball game with the entire family...20 of us! I felt great about my choices. Hoping for some sleep tonight!

  4. So far, so good. Rest day today. Nothin notable to add.
My goal at the beginning of this challenge was to look like a young Alec Baldwin. Based on the latest changes I feel an old Khloe Kardashian is more likely.

  5. I left this morning for a visit with family. Was worried that I would have a hard time. I did great, stayed on target and didn't even use a sanity item!

  6. Ran this morning and ate okay all day. Had an early Easter dinner with my family. Luckily, my mom eats primally and my sister is trying to stay away from too many carbs these days, so pretty much everything on the table was paleo-friendly.

  8. Went ahead and used my cheat day today since tomorrow is the start of a new week and i like to start on off on a good note. Today is the first day i have had any sanity items and i plan on continuing this trend and reserving them for my cheat day next saturday. I ate paleo breaksfast and lunch and indulged in sushi for dinner mmm mmm and 1 reese cup . I tried to get up for the WOD this morning but did not make it. So instead I ran sprints at home and worked on handstand holds. No more headaches today was an awesome day!!!!! :-) Staying strong is hard with all the Easter candy being shoved in our faces but I know everyone can do it. :-)

  13. Made it to the wod in the morning, did yoga, and went back later to do snatches, clean and jerks, 7 min amrap of burpee 105# push press and pull ups, deadlifted, then 5 minute amrap of 250m row and 5 rope climbs. Ate well, Maria and I went to get Thai food and there was a mother and daughter talking about the paleo diet. The daughter said its crazy and they don't eat any grains an the mother said "well that's all good until their cholesterol shoots up over 200". I opted to just smile and finish eating my plate o meat and vegetables

  18. Catching up after having a phone and an Internet meltdown this weekend. Spent the day doing yard work and fun stuff at my grandfathers. Lugged way too much mulch and topsoil.
